Our Maso is situated in the Italian Alps 1200 meters above sea level
A holiday in Val di Sole is rich in nature and health, sustainability and mountain activities outdoors
Maso le Mosne, in the village of Montes. It is like arriving in a place that tells the story of our predecessors, and the life of the past. The view of the mountains and the peacefulness of our nature are exciting and arouse very intense sensations. The context spreads a state of psychophysical well-being that is vital for our health. You will feel like you have arrived in a magical place, out of time and on top of the world.
Maso le Mosne is located at 1200 meters above sea level, about 6 km from the center of Malè, the main town of Val di Sole. A long time ago, our Maso was a farmer’s barn, and it still tells us about a life of subsistence and the hard work in the stables and in the fields. We restored it in 2016 with the methods of green building, using only natural materials: wood, lime, clay.
Our philosophical approach also concerns the sources of energy supply that we have chosen for Maso le Mosne: solar, thermal, photovoltaic, boiler and wood, heat pumps, and also the recycling of rainwater. The key principles that accompany us in the restoration and life choices are environmental sustainability, love for nature and the protection of this magnificent country. Maso le Mosne is completely surrounded by woods, fields planted with vegetables and meadows.
Daily living flows slowly, in silence, peace and tranquility.
Why are we called Maso le Mosne?
The ‘mosne’
are typical piles of stones that witness the history of this place.
The stones accumulated on the borders of various properties are the sign of the property and working of the land. In fact, without stones the earth becomes easier to work. Over the years, the ‘mosne’ have become micro-environments of great importance for the biodiversity of this place: spontaneous plants have grown; they act as a shelter for many animals; and they create the characteristic environmental conformation that makes the territory complex and varied.
The shrike
is one of the representative birds of this particular environment.
In fact, it needs bushes and thorny shrubs to nest and meadows with many insects and other prey for its feeding. Being able to see it from the windows of Maso le Mosne, while it is intent on its activities, is like perceiving a sign of hope for the future. The shrike, in fact, can be considered an excellent ambassador of ecology and biodiversity.
